Patient Population


The patient population is comprised of children and adolescents (ages 2-17), and their families. More than half of the families served, 52%, are below the poverty level; another 15% are just above the poverty level. Approximately 55% of our clients are severely emotionally disturbed and require multiple services and support . The racial demographics of our client population are approximately 60% Caucasian, 13% African American, 8% Hispanic, 2.4% Native American, and the remainder is classified as Asian and other. The racial demographics of Shawnee County are approximately, 89% Caucasian, 9% African American, 6.5% Hispanic, 1% Native American, and 1% Asian and other.

Common diagnostic categories include attention deficit disorder, trauma related disorders, adjustment disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, mood /anxiety disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders and psychotic spectrum disorders.
