Community-Based Services
Community-Based Services (CBS) are intensive services provided in the community instead of in an office or hospital. The focus is on maintaining the child or adolescent in their home.
These services target children who might otherwise require an extended hospital stay. Community-based services help the child or adolescent avoid a hospital stay and provide them and their family with support and resources. The child must be classified as severely emotionally disturbed to receive these services.
CBS expands the traditional array of services offered by community mental health centers. Services may be provided in the home, at school or in another setting in the community. Specially trained staff work collaboratively with the family to plan the services that will best meet the child’s needs. Other important people in the child’s life, including teachers, coaches, clergy or other service providers may be included in the development of the plan. Services focus on the strengths of the child and family and are developed with the family’s culture and background in mind.
Services provided may include:
- Targeted Mental Health Case Management
- Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment
- Mental Health Attendant Care
- Psychosocial Treatment Group
Waiver Services Include:
- Attendant Care
- Parent Support
- Wraparound Facilitation
- Respite Care
- Professional Resource Family Care
