FSGC group to help children of divorce, separation

Me in the Middle Photo with borderDivorce and separation are traumatic for the whole family – especially children.

That’s why Family Service & Guidance Center (FSGC) is once again offering our popular "Me in the Middle," a group for children whose parents are divorced, separated or are in the process of getting a divorce.

The eight-week course is designed for children ages 10-12 and will meet on Wednesday nights from 5-6 p.m. starting May 11 at FSGC.

“Me in the Middle provides the opportunity for children to realize that lots of other kids are going through the same thing they are and that the anger, sadness, guilt and confusion they may be feeling is perfectly normal,” said Dr. Connie Romig, Coordinator of Training and Education and a Team Leader at FSGC.

Children will learn coping skills to manage their feelings about divorce and begin to understand that despite what they may be feeling, their parents’ divorce is not their fault.

Space is limited. Parents can reserve a spot for their child by contacting Dr. Romig at 232.5005. The deadline for reservations is 5 p.m. Friday, May 6.
