Heather Teufel is a human resources professional with a locally owned company and active in our community. She makes her charitable contribution to Family Service & Guidance Center on the same day each year.
“I do my giving at the Topeka Gives event in June because I believe children are the future of our community. I want to make an investment so kids can get the services they need to overcome whatever issues they’re dealing with,” she explained.
She also sees Topeka Gives as a unique giving opportunity.
“The gift matching offered by the Topeka Community Foundation makes me feel like my gift will go even further to make children’s lives better. I get more bang for my buck!”
That’s why FSGC encourages you to join us at Topeka Gives 2017 on Tuesday, June 6, from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at Fairlawn Plaza Mall. It’s a special celebration of charitable giving with the Topeka Community Foundation providing $83,250 in match money for contributions made that day. The match is pro-rated, so the more FSGC raises, the more of the match pool the organization will receive.
“Last year, our generous donors gave $14,450 which leveraged an 11 percent match from the Topeka Community Foundation for a total of $16,088.75,” said Pam Evans, Director of Marketing & Development. “It’s always fun to have friends and supporters come by our table, and it’s a great opportunity for donors to leverage a significant additional donation with their generosity.”
Gifts given that day are tax deductible as allowable by law. To qualify for the match, donations must be made in-person at Fairlawn Plaza. Cash, check and credit card will be accepted.
Evans continued, “With over 150 nonprofits participating, it’s a great chance to make a gift to FSGC go even further and see just how many organizations are making a positive impact on our community.”
