What time should you arrive at FSGC?
If you have made an appointment
Admissions paperwork is complete
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
Admissions paperwork is not complete
- Please arrive 45 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
We encourage you to phone ahead or pre-register for children’s mental health services in Topeka, if possible. This helps ensure the availability of FSGC staff based on your insurance coverage.
If you have not made an appointment*
Admissions paperwork is complete
- To be seen in the morning, you should arrive by 10:30 a.m.
- To be seen in the afternoon, you should arrive by 1:30 p.m.
Admissions paperwork is not complete
- To be seen in the morning, you should arrive by 10:15 a.m.
- To be seen in the afternoon, you should arrive by 1:15 p.m.
*Use FSGC’s Admissions Clinic, available Monday through Friday.
Answers to frequently asked questions
Family Service & Guidance Center is located at 325 and 327 S.W. Frazier Ave., near 6th & Gage. Note that child and adolescent psychiatry services are in the building at 325 S.W. Frazier Ave. If you need help finding us, call 785.232.5005 for directions or Click Here for Map Directions.
- For the first appointment, the child and at least one parent or legal guardian must attend.
- Please check in at the front desk when you arrive. The receptionist will review your paperwork and make a copy of your insurance or medical card and identification.
- At your first appointment, you will…
a. Meet with an Admissions Specialist to finalize paperwork and ask your questions.
b. You will meet with a therapist at the initial appointment and discuss your child’s treatment options.
c. Schedule a second appointment, if one is needed.
