FSGC names new medical director

A familiar face has taken on a new role at Family Service & Guidance Center.

Chip Millhuff, DO, will assume the role of Director of Medical Services, effective Monday, August 28. Dr. Millhuff has been a member of FSGC’s child and adolescent psychiatry staff 18 years and has 25 years of medical experience.

“We’re very excited that Dr. Millhuff is our new medical director,” said Brenda Mills, Family Service & Guidance Center CEO. “He’s a dedicated, innovative and thoughtful professional who will continue to deliver outstanding care to his patients as well as bringing excellent leadership to his department.”

Dr. Millhuff said he’s looking forward to an exciting new opportunity. “We have an outstanding staff already in place and a lot of good things already in motion,” he said. “I hope to build on the already high level of patient care that we’re currently providing.”

Prior to joining FSGC, Dr. Millhuff was on staff at Menninger. He is Board Certified from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Millhuff has provided consultation to numerous Topeka-area organizations and schools including Capital City School, Hope Street Elementary Program and Pine Ridge Prep (pre-school). He is also a nationally known expert in early childhood psychiatric treatment.

Dr. Millhuff graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University (Olathe, KS) and completed his medical education at the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine (Kansas City, MO). He received his Residency Training at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and also completed a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Menninger School.

Dr. Millhuff replaces Eric Atwood, DO, who has taken a position at the University of Kansas Counseling and Psychological Services.
