Help kids even more at Topeka Gives

Dr. Mike Reynolds is a retired dentist, but he hasn’t slowed down. He’s involved with several area nonprofit organizations and a vocal advocate for mental health in our community. Every year he makes a generous gift to Family Service & Guidance Center at the annual Topeka Gives event for one big reason. Why that day?

“That’s easy: Because you get extra bang for your buck!” Dr. Reynolds said.

That extra bang is why you are invited to join Family Service & Guidance Center at the 5th annual Topeka Gives Tuesday, June 5, from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at Fairlawn Plaza Mall. It’s a special day of charitable giving because the Topeka Community Foundation will provide over $80,000 in prorated match money for contributions made that day. So, the more FSGC raises that day, the more of the match pool FSGC will receive.

“Last year, FSGC’s wonderful donors raised $14,430 at Topeka Gives. That leveraged an additional $1,477 in match money from the Topeka Community Foundation for a total of $15,907,” said Pam Evans, Director of Marketing & Development. “Topeka Gives is such a fun event and a great opportunity for our friends to leverage additional funds to help thousands of northeast Kansas kids and families.”

Dr. Reynolds agreed. “The energy at Fairlawn Plaza with all the great organizations that do so much good in our community is amazing. It’s a fun day for Topeka!” he said.

Gifts given that day are tax deductible as allowable by law. To qualify for the match, donations must be made in-person at Fairlawn Plaza. Cash, check and credit card will be accepted.

“There are more than 150 nonprofits participating, so it’s a chance to make a gift to FSGC and see just how many organizations are making a positive impact on our community,” Evans said.
