A record 400 guests raised $110,650 at the event held August 17 at the Maner Conference Centre. This is the highest amount raised in the Works of Heart Event’s 12-year history. Proceeds will help ensure that top-quality mental health care services are available in the community for children and families who need them.
Brenda Mills, Family Service & Guidance Center CEO, said, “Topeka once again showed tremendous kindness and generosity to kids living with anxiety, depression, ADHD and other mental health issues. This event greatly enhances our capacity to provide services and programs that our kids and families need.”
Seventeen pieces of colorful artwork by FSGC clients ranging in age from five to 18 were auctioned off. Travel getaways to Daytona Beach, FL, and Breckenridge, CO, were also up for bid, along with a weekend rental of Topeka’s historic Dillon House and pieces donated by prominent professional artists from across the Midwest.
Works of Heart featured live jazz, a reception, a craft cocktail tasting experience, silent auction, dinner and the exciting live auction. The children who created the live auction artwork also attended the event, along with their families, and were recognized for their extraordinary talent and creativity.
Family Service & Guidance Center is a non-profit community mental health center that serves over 11,000 children living with anxiety, depression, ADHD and other mental health issues and their families each year. FSGC has been changing children’s lives for the better since 1904.
