Thousands of northeast Kansas children will be happier and more successful thanks to $108,925 raised at the 11th annual Family Service & Guidance Center Works of Heart Event.
Over 365 community leaders and art enthusiasts attended the event August 18 at the Maner Conference Centre to benefit children living with anxiety, depression, ADHD and other common mental health issues.
Brenda Mills, Family Service & Guidance Center CEO, said, “The success of Works of Heart is crucial to our organization’s ability to provide services and programs that our kids and families need. Thanks to the Topeka community, our children will have a better chance at a happier, healthier life.”
Fifteen pieces of colorful, compelling artwork by FSGC clients ranging in age from four to 17 were auctioned off. Travel getaways to Chicago and Hawaii, a weekend rental of Topeka’s historic Dillon House and pieces donated by prominent professional artists from across the Midwest were also up for bid.
Works of Heart featured live jazz, a reception, silent auction, dinner and the exciting live auction. The 20 children who created the live auction artwork also attended the event, along with their families, and were recognized for their extraordinary talent and creativity.
Family Service & Guidance Center is a non-profit community mental health center that serves nearly 13,000 children living with anxiety, depression, ADHD and other mental health issues and their families annually. FSGC has been improving children’s lives since 1904.
