A second free eight-session parenting course is open to the public and will begin Thursday, June 4.

“Parenting: Because Kids Don’t Come with Instructions,” a free course for parents of children ages 5-12, will meet weekly from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursdays, starting June 4. The class will meet at Parents as Teachers, 1100 S.E. Highland, in the Pine Ridge neighborhood.

“The class will teach some positive parenting skills that will reduce parental stress and help parents feel more in control while building a stronger relationship with the child,” Dr. Connie Romig, FSGC Coordinator of Training and Education, said. “Self-esteem building activities will be provided for children, too. We’re excited about this new class and how it can help any parent.”

As an added bonus, participants who attend the class six or more of the eight weeks will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card.
